Poland will call more than 200 thousand citizens for military qualification
According to glavcom.ua: In Poland, from February 2 to April 30, 2026, a large-scale military qualification will take place, during which about 235 thousand people will be called, including both men and women. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Agencja Wyborcza.
The summons for mandatory appearance at the military commission with confirmation of receipt will start being sent to recipients in January 2026. This step is intended to determine the physical and mental suitability of the population for military service.
In addition to young men aged 19 to 24 who have not yet undergone a military commission, men up to 60 years old who do not have a defined military category, as well as women with appropriate education or those who will acquire a specialty before the end of the 2025/2026 academic year, must go through it. This refers, in particular, to specialties in medicine, IT, psychology, veterinary, maritime, and aviation activities.
After receiving the summons, citizens will have to appear at the district medical commission for a medical examination and an interview with a representative of the army.
Then the participants' data will enter the military register. Each summoned individual will receive the rank of private, but not a military ID. It will only be issued to volunteers who wish to join the army. Volunteers who are not interested in military service will be transferred to a so-called passive reserve.
The qualification will also affect those who were previously recognized as temporarily unfit for service if their limitation period ends before April 2026. They will undergo a re-examination.
Previously, it was reported that the Ministry of Defense of Poland published a document on 'military qualification'. First of all, the commission checks the identity of the person who came for the qualification selection, assesses their physical and mental ability for military service, and issues certificates of military assembly completion and evaluation of military service suitability.
It is worth noting that since the introduction of border control with Germany and Lithuania, Polish authorities have checked 75 thousand people. The Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland, Tomasz Semonjak, stated that these measures have an additional positive side effect, as they allow for identifying wanted persons and stolen vehicles.
A large-scale military qualification is starting in Poland, which plans to call more than 235 thousand people, men, and women. Summons for attendance will start being sent out as early as January 2026. Women with appropriate education and specialties in the fields of medicine, IT, psychology, veterinary, as well as men up to 60 years old with an undefined military category will also undergo qualification. Participants who do not wish to join the army will be transferred to the passive reserve. The document also provides for a re-examination for those who were previously temporarily unfit for service.
