Polish Strategist Warns NATO: Ukraine May Be the Sole Force Capable of Countering Russian Threat

Russia's Potential Hybrid Assault on NATO Nations

According to ХВИЛЯ: Polish strategist Piotr Kulpa, speaking on political analyst Yuriy Romanenko's broadcast, outlined a potential hybrid attack by the Russian Federation against NATO's eastern flank nations, particularly in the Suwałki Gap region. Kulpa suggested such an assault could be launched from Belarus or the Kaliningrad Oblast. He stressed that European nations are unprepared for this threat, while Ukraine could emerge as the only force capable of effective resistance. This analysis comes amid heightened concerns over Russia's long-term ambitions in Eastern Europe following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Kulpa emphasized that 'it all begins with drone-centric warfare,' indicating that initial strikes would likely be carried out by drones. He added that Poland, as the 'most serious player' in the region, possesses artillery capable of striking targets 40-50 km away. However, the strategist noted a critical shortfall: 'there is nothing more you can do. First, there are no drones. There are no drones. Second, there are no people who know how to operate drones.'

The European Security Context

Furthermore, he pointed out that Belarus is already involved in the war by providing its communication systems to Russia. Regarding European security, Kulpa recalled the ultimatums Russia issued in late 2021 concerning the redivision of spheres of influence and changes to the security architecture. In his view, the current discussions imply that 'Ukina automatically becomes, I don't know what to call it, a limited-form member of NATO.'

Thus, according to the Polish strategist, the situation remains tense, and Ukraine, with its direct experience in countering aggression, is assigned a crucial role in ensuring security in Eastern Europe.
