After More Than 37 Years of Service, Ukrainian Military Officer Volodymyr Khokhlenko Passes Away

Born on November 3, 1970, in Kyiv, Khokhlenko attended a local secondary school before pursuing higher education at the Kyiv Institute of Ground Forces and later the National Defense University of Ukraine, now named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi. These institutions helped shape his long military career.
A Lifetime in Uniform
Dedicating more than 37 years to military service, Khokhlenko held a variety of command, staff, and administrative roles within Ukraine's Armed Forces. In 2005, he was deployed as part of the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent to the Republic of Iraq. After returning home, he worked in the Cyber Security and Electronic Warfare Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in his final years served with military unit A5023.
Starting in 2025, he served as head of the administrative department within the organizational planning directorate. Due to his service, he was classified as having a Group II disability, yet he continued to fulfill his duties without interruption.
Khokhlenko received numerous state and departmental awards in recognition of his service. He is survived by his wife and children, who have carried on his legacy. His wife joined the territorial defense forces in the early days of the full-scale invasion, and his son from a first marriage is defending Ukraine on the front lines.
