Poperesnyuk warned about the transition of the war into a phase of mutual destruction of economies
Situation in the economy during the war
According to ХВИЛЯ: On August 5, during a massive shelling, co-founder of "Nova Poshta" Volodymyr Poperesnyuk stated on Facebook that the war is entering a phase of mutual destruction of economies. According to him, there has been no destruction of this scale in the rear since the beginning of the invasion. Poperesnyuk noted that losses today are significantly greater than four years ago, and the government's policies have become the opposite of those in 2022, when the government lowered taxes, abolished tariffs and licenses, halted inspections, and removed regulatory barriers.
Volodymyr Poperesnyuk criticized the current pressure on businesses, stating that instead of freedom, new taxes, excises, pressure on individual entrepreneurs, and endless checks have emerged. He emphasized that
"suffocating business during shelling is helping the enemy destroy our economy"
- Volodymyr Poperesnyuk.
Proposals to support the economy
Poperesnyuk also pointed out that the government is unable to close the sky from enemy missiles, but it can free up local businesses, which is the only way to sustain the economy.
Among the measures that can help sustain the economy, Poperesnyuk offers:
- deregulation
- simplification of international logistics
- easing construction permits and connection to networks
- tax holidays for owners of destroyed property
- free economic zones in frontline territories
He is convinced that
"in this standoff, the one who adapts faster will win. Free business finds new ways, instantly readjusts logistics, and rebuilds what has been destroyed, while officials are still coordinating another state plan"
- Volodymyr Poperesnyuk.
These statements and proposals by Poperesnyuk indicate the critical state of the Ukrainian economy in wartime and the urgent need for measures to support it. In a situation where economic challenges are becoming increasingly serious, it is important for the government and entrepreneurs to find common solutions to preserve businesses and restore economic stability in the country.
