Poroshenko Says Missile Was Shot Down Over His Home, Causing $172 Million in Losses
Missile Interception and Destruction of Poroshenko’s Businesses
According to Главком: Speaking at the Lviv International Economic Forum, Ukrainian lawmaker and former President Petro Poroshenko reported that a missile was intercepted above his residence, leading to severe damage at his enterprises. According to Poroshenko, at 10:03 PM the night before the forum, a missile downed by Ukraine’s air defense system exploded roughly 100 meters from his home.
Since the start of 2022, Poroshenko’s businesses have suffered $172 million in damages. These include:
- the destruction of a logistics warehouse belonging to the Roshen confectionery company;
- the loss of marmalade and marshmallow production lines at the Kyiv Confectionery Factory;
- the complete demolition of the Dnipro Starch and Syrup Plant by three Iskander missiles.
Additionally, on the night of February 7, 2026, a logistics center for the Roshen factory in Yahotyn, Kyiv region, was attacked. The finished goods warehouse there was almost entirely destroyed, though no casualties occurred. In another incident, on the night of January 24, 2026, the Roshen confectionery factory in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district came under attack, resulting in the death of a female employee.
“We are now living under conditions where businesses tied to my sector-my property-have incurred $172 million in losses from enemy attacks since 2022 alone.”
Petro Poroshenko
It is important to note that the situation facing Poroshenko’s enterprises mirrors the broader impact of the war on Ukrainian businesses. Continuous strikes on strategic facilities and production sites are causing serious economic damage, which in turn affects the country’s overall financial stability. The losses sustained by these companies could have repercussions not only for the businesses themselves but also for employment and the social environment across Ukraine.
The ongoing conflict has not only affected Poroshenko's businesses but also highlights a troubling pattern of targeted attacks on industrial facilities across the region. For instance, a recent drone strike on Russia's Azot plant in the Tula region underscores the escalating nature of these assaults. Such incidents reveal a broader trend of economic disruption that extends beyond individual companies, impacting entire sectors.
