Call to Document War Crimes

According to 5 канал: The European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katherina Mathernova, has called on the global community to document Russia's war crimes following a large-scale attack on Kyiv that occurred on the night of August 20. During this attack, strikes were made on civilian objects, including damage to the upper floors of a nine-story residential building in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv and the territory of a children's hospital.

Mathernova pointed out that as a result of a Russian drone strike on the National Police building in Zhytomyr, 3 people were killed and 53 were injured. In her statement, she noted:

“Let’s be frank: this is not a war on the battlefield. Soldiers are not fighting against soldiers. Russia is killing civilians and bombing residential buildings and children's hospitals. We must speak loudly about this. We must write about it so that the world remembers the war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine.” - Katherina Mathernova

International Reaction to the Attacks

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova condemned the combined Russian strikes on Ukraine and reported violations of its airspace by a Russian drone. These events highlight the serious threat posed by attacks on civilian objects in Ukraine and the importance of international reaction to such acts of violence.

Katherina Mathernova's appeal reflects the concerns of the international community regarding the safety of civilians in Ukraine and the need to document war crimes. In light of the recent attacks on civilian infrastructure, such statements may be an important step towards raising awareness about the humanitarian consequences of the war and stimulating international organizations to take more active measures. At the same time, the condemnation from Moldova indicates the regional threat posed by these actions and underscores the importance of coordinating efforts among neighboring countries to ensure security in the region.
