According to Главком: Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, extended birthday wishes to the renowned Ukrainian poet and writer, Lina Kostenko, on March 19. In a post on his Telegram channel, Zaluzhnyi marked the occasion by reading her poem, 'Life Goes On and All Without Proofs,' highlighting the enduring significance of Kostenko's work for Ukrainian culture.

Lina Kostenko's Cultural Legacy

Lina Kostenko, a leading figure of the 'Shistdesiatnyky' (Sixtiers) movement of the 1960s, is celebrated for her literary work and her courageous civic stance. She was known for attending the trials of individuals accused of anti-Soviet activity and propaganda, demonstrating her commitment to the principles of free speech.

In 2024, both Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Lina Kostenko were awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Kyiv. The award was presented to Kostenko at her home, further recognizing her profound contribution to Ukrainian literature and national identity.
