Statement by Oleksiy Kucherenko on the energy situation in Ukraine

According to ХВИЛЯ: Oleksiy Kucherenko, a people's deputy and the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, assured that Ukraine is not threatened by a full blackout, despite the critical situation in the energy system. He noted that the system continues to function, although in conditions of emergency and stabilization restrictions.

According to Kucherenko, the restrictions currently in place are necessary for balancing the energy system and preventing its complete collapse.

There will be no blackout. A blackout is a catastrophic collapse of the energy system. Right now there are limited schedules, and a blackout is absolutely something else.

At the same time, Kucherenko drew attention to the situation in the frontline regions, where, according to him, it will be much harder. He specifically pointed out:

  • Sumy
  • Okhtyrka
  • Kharkiv region

Meanwhile, in Odesa, in his opinion, the situation is relatively protected and stable.
