Blaze in Lomonosovsky District

According to Главком: During the night of June 5–6, a fire broke out at a restricted military site in the settlement of Bolshaya Izhora, located in the Lomonosovsky District of Russia’s Leningrad Region. The blaze was accompanied by the detonation of stored munitions. This facility is the 51st arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and also serves as a storage base for weapons and materiel for the Baltic Fleet. Situated on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, the Bolshaya Izhora warehouses held thousands of tons of ammunition, including artillery shells, mines, anti-ship missiles, and charges for air defense systems.

Official Response and Concurrent Events

In response to the incident, the governor of the Leningrad Region ordered the evacuation of the local population. The event triggered widespread concern, as the initial loud explosions occurred shortly after drones were spotted flying overhead-drones that, according to reports, also struck other targets. Around the same time, a fire broke out at the Antipinsky oil refinery in Tyumen. Additionally, during the night of June 5–6, drones attacked an oil depot in the Krasnodar Region near the town of Ust-Labinsk, roughly 550 kilometers from the front lines in Ukraine.

These events on the night of June 5–6 highlight growing regional tensions linked to military conflicts and armed strikes. Authorities continue to implement measures to ensure public safety, but such incidents raise concerns about potential risks to civilians and broader regional stability. Given the increased use of drones, the situation may signal tactical shifts in the ongoing conflict in and around Ukraine.

As tensions escalate in the region, the recent drone strikes on key facilities, including oil refineries, further exacerbate the situation. These incidents, occurring simultaneously with the explosions in Bolshaya Izhora, suggest a coordinated strategy that could have significant implications for security in the area.
