Armor Plate Factory Worker Killed in Kyiv Building Collapse
Tragedy in Kyiv
According to Главком: Rescue teams clearing debris after a massive Russian strike on Kyiv discovered the body of 33-year-old Artem Didenko beneath the wreckage of a residential building in the Darnytskyi district. He worked for the armor plate manufacturer Balistyka, joining the company in the spring of 2023. Artem’s duties involved gluing dampers, cleaning plates, and inspecting them for defects on the production line.
In the early hours of July 2, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on the capital using drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as hypersonic Zircon missiles. It was one of the most intense assaults on Kyiv, damaging 28 locations. As of this report, 21 fatalities have been confirmed, among them Artem Didenko. Colleagues remember him as a kind-hearted person with a bright spirit, always greeting others with a warm smile. Though introverted, he was loyal, sincere, and always ready to lend a hand.
Condolences and the Toll of War
Artem is survived by his parents, his wife, and their three-year-old son, Zakhar. Balistyka expressed its condolences, stating:
“Artem promised to finish the next batch of armor plates, but Russian occupiers killed him. We will complete everything. You are forever part of Balistyka. We will avenge you.”
This tragic incident highlights the devastating impact of the war waged by the Russian military, which increasingly employs new jet-powered drones capable of reaching speeds of up to 500 km/h. Ukrainian defense forces are forced to use expensive interceptor missiles to shoot them down. Debris clearance continues, and Ukrainians remain steadfast in their fight for freedom and security.
The tragedy underscores the horrific consequences of the conflict for civilians in Ukraine. Artem Didenko, a victim of aggression, leaves behind a family, illustrating how the war disrupts the lives of countless people. Attacks on civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, inflict deep wounds on society and underscore the urgent need for international support to help Ukraine achieve safety and recovery. These events are a stark reminder of the resilience of the Ukrainian people amid war.
