Prime Minister Koretsky Honors Ukraine’s Emergency Rescuers for Their Heroic Service During the War
Prime Minister's Tribute to Emergency Service Personnel
According to МВС: Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky extended his gratitude to the rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS), presenting them with official state awards and government honors. He highlighted their crucial contributions throughout the full-scale war, including saving lives, extinguishing fires, conducting evacuations, clearing mines, and restoring vital infrastructure. Over 56,000 emergency responders continue to serve across Ukraine under these challenging circumstances.
Facing Increased Risks Amid Conflict
Koretsky emphasized that the dangers faced by these rescuers have intensified due to deliberate attacks by Russian forces targeting locations where emergency teams are actively working.
“Since the full-scale invasion began, 130 Ukrainian rescuers have lost their lives. We remember them with honor. I thank every member of the DSNS for their bravery, expertise, and the countless lives they have saved. It is a great privilege for me to stand alongside you today,”
he stated. The DSNS team undertakes critical tasks such as:
- extracting people trapped under debris,
- firefighting,
- organizing evacuations,
- conducting mine clearance,
- and aiding in the recovery of essential infrastructure.
This occasion underscores the indispensable role emergency responders play during wartime, not only in protecting lives but also in supporting the nation’s recovery efforts. Official recognition of their work at the highest level serves to boost their morale and motivation as they continue risking their lives daily to safeguard others.
In light of the Prime Minister's recognition of the bravery and dedication of emergency responders, it's worth noting that similar honors were recently bestowed upon 16 members of the State Emergency Service for their courageous actions. This reflection on their exemplary service highlights the ongoing commitment of these heroes amidst the ongoing conflict.
