Repair Work on Marhanets Water Main Must Be Accelerated, PM Says

According to Кабмін: Serhii Koretskyi, Ukraine’s prime minister, has ordered faster repair of the main water pipeline serving Marhanets, where residents and neighboring communities have been without drinking water for several days because of a pipeline failure.

Late the previous evening, Koretskyi reviewed an operational update from Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional state administration, and from the relevant ministries. He instructed teams to speed up fixing the pipeline equipment, maintain a supply of technical water, and arrange drinking-water deliveries for residents. All affected agencies and services have been directed to carry out these measures.

Water Supply Restoration Now Under Central Coordination

Responsibility for coordinating the restoration of water supply has been given to Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine’s minister for restoration, infrastructure and transport. Koretskyi said:

“This is the result of a breakdown on the main water pipeline and also of the incomplete and untimely response of the officials in charge. Strict conclusions will be drawn shortly.”

He expects the head of the regional administration to be fully engaged and to resolve the water-supply problem for residents today.

The prolonged interruption of drinking water in Marhanets highlights how quickly authorities must react to infrastructure emergencies. The government’s push to expedite pipeline repairs and organize water truck deliveries underscores its focus on residents’ basic needs, and the handling of this situation may shape public trust in state institutions responsible for essential services.
