The President of Brazil shocked the world community with a statement about the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

President of Brazil Luis Inácio Lula da Silva stated that neither side of the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine has been able to achieve the quick victory they expected at the start of the conflict. He also emphasized that his country did not support Russian aggression. This is reported by El País.

In his interview, Lula da Silva stressed that Brazil has taken a critical stance on Russia's actions from the very beginning and has not recognized its right to occupy Ukrainian territories.

«Brazil has been very critical. It has never recognized the RF's right to invade Ukraine. Brazil has always asserted that the solution lies in negotiations», — noted the president.

He also added that both sides of the conflict had erroneous expectations regarding a quick end to the war.

According to the Brazilian leader, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the allies of Ukraine and Russia believed in a quick outcome. In particular:

Lula da Silva emphasized that the war has been ongoing for more than four years and has serious consequences for the world:

• significant human casualties

• large financial losses

• lack of quick prospects for ending hostilities.

The President of Brazil expressed doubt that the conflict would end anytime soon without the active involvement of international mediators and a negotiation process. He emphasized that the diplomatic path remains the only option for achieving peace.
