The President has awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to two warriors

Vitaliy Karvatsky voluntarily mobilized into the ranks of the territorial defense at the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression. Throughout 2022-2023, he carried out combat missions in the most challenging directions of the front, was in the forward positions, and actively participated in complex assault operations.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed decrees awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of 'Gold Star' posthumously to Junior Sergeant Vitaliy Karvatsky and Soldier Oleg Yarovoy. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Office of the President.

Oleg Yarovoy

Oleg Yarovoy was a sapper of the 108th separate assault battalion of unmanned systems ('Wolves Da Vinci') of the 59th separate assault brigade of unmanned systems named after Yakov Handziuk. Last August, in the city of Ukrainian on Donetsk region, he remained alone against the assault company of the occupiers and repelled attacks for a week to hold the position.

In September last year, in Selidove during a hostile attack, Oleg Yarovoy was wounded, but refused evacuation, took the enemy's ammunition, and independently organized a defensive position. He took command of the Territorial Defense fighters who were in a semi-circle. This allowed to repel Russian attacks and stabilize the situation in this section of the front.
