The government has increased presidential grants for young scientists: who will receive up to 700 thousand

According to Кабмін: Presidential grants for young scientists have almost increased fivefold. Now they amount to:

• 20 grants of 700 thousand UAH for doctors of science (up to 45 years old),
• 7 grants of 500 thousand UAH for doctors of science (up to 40 years old),
• 20 grants of 400 thousand UAH for PhD students (up to 35 years old),
• 50 grants of 300 thousand UAH for candidates of science or doctors of philosophy (up to 35 years old).

This increase is due to inflation and the needs of young scientists to carry out projects.

Fields for which grants will be allocated

Currently, grants will be aimed at research in areas such as security, economy, society, and technology.

Only citizens of Ukraine who are permanently engaged in scientific activities in the country can apply for the grant.

Conditions of the competition and the process of receiving grants

To participate in the competition, it will be necessary to submit a package of documents and successfully pass the verification by the National Research Fund. The Fund will check compliance with the criteria and compile a ranking of projects.

Rules for contract signing, deadlines for submission of reports and use of funds, as well as conditions for returning grants in case of contract violation have also been approved.

Applications are accepted until March 1 of the year before the granting of funds.

The National Research Fund will submit proposals to the Ministry of Education and Science by August 1, and the Ministry will submit the draft decree to the President by October 1.

Approval of the draft decree by the President guarantees significant modernization of grants, greater transparency of competitions, and will promote the successful implementation of projects by young Ukrainian researchers.
