Border Guard Dmytro Zakharchenko Dies in Combat

According to МВС: On June 7, 2025, border guard Dmytro Zakharchenko was killed in action in the Kharkiv region. Despite sustaining severe injuries from a mortar shell while carrying out a combat mission, he continued to fight. At the time of his death, Zakharchenko served in the DOZOR unit, which he joined in February 2025. Earlier, in 2023, he had held defensive positions in the Donetsk region.

Between June 5 and June 7, 2025, Zakharchenko’s unit was deployed in the Kharkiv region. He spotted enemy forces and, alongside his comrades, eliminated an assault group. The following day, he personally neutralized three enemy fighters and helped extricate surrounded troops. However, on June 7, a mortar round struck the trench where he was positioned, causing severe wounds and the loss of his arm. He applied a tourniquet to himself and fought on, before being pulled from the line of fire by his fellow soldiers.
