The project highlights the experiences of farmers, agricultural workers, survivors of explosive injuries, local officials, and youth. Delivered by CESVI in collaboration with Mines Advisory Group (MAG) and the Ukrainian Sappers Association (USA), this initiative aims to support post-war recovery efforts. It combines storytelling through local media with creative community engagement, including the creation of murals in Balakliia and Savynky.

Collaboration and Personal Stories of Resilience

As part of 'Safe Steps,' the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) has partnered with nine regional newspapers and local television stations to broadcast these impactful narratives. Among those featured is Sergey Lysenko, a crane operator with 35 years of experience, who survived a blast incident:

“One step-and then an explosion… I looked at my leg, and my foot was almost gone… I wrapped it up and climbed back into the crane cabin myself.” - Sergey Lysenko

His story exemplifies remarkable resilience and determination to rebuild his livelihood.

Another participant, Andriy Novikov, a veterinary graduate student and farmer managing over 100 hectares just 40 kilometers from the front lines, shares his outlook: “We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. But we keep sowing-with hope.” His dedication and optimism help uplift community morale amid uncertainty. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Agarkov, who supported demining efforts before suffering a severe injury, reflects on his recovery:
