SAP Prosecutor Concludes Investigation Into Former Vice Prime Minister’s Illegal Enrichment of 13.9 Million UAH
Pre-trial Inquiry into Ex-Vice Prime Minister’s Case Completed
According to САП: On October 15, 2026, the prosecutor from Ukraine's Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) finalized the pre-trial investigation involving the former Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Justice. He faces allegations of illicit enrichment exceeding 13.9 million UAH and false asset declaration. Investigators revealed that between 2024 and 2025, the suspect purchased two apartments in the 'Faina Town' residential complex worth 6.9 million UAH, registered under a close friend’s name.
Case documents also indicate possession of 7 million UAH in cash, some of which was spent renovating the apartments. There was an intention to acquire a house near Kyiv valued at 550,000 USD, with plans to pay 250,000 USD in cash and exchange two apartments. This transaction was ultimately canceled, likely due to the suspect’s appointment to a diplomatic role abroad.
Discrepancies in Finances and Asset Ownership
An analysis of the suspect’s declared income and expenditures shows bank account withdrawals totaling approximately 4.2 million UAH, significantly surpassing the official income of around 3.7 million UAH reported from early 2024 to mid-2025. Moreover, the declarations omitted use of assets registered under third parties, including:
- An apartment in the Kyiv business-class residential complex 'Lvivska Ploshcha,' registered to the suspect’s mother;
- A MERCEDES-BENZ GLC 220D vehicle registered to a subordinate.
The case files are now accessible to the defense team as per the prosecutor’s directive. According to Article 62 of the Ukrainian Constitution, the individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court verdict.
This investigation highlights the critical role of anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine, particularly among high-ranking officials. It underscores the government’s commitment to combating corruption and promoting financial transparency.
The upcoming phases of the trial will be pivotal in shaping public confidence in the country’s anti-corruption agencies and judicial system.
