Therapy Dog Toto Joins Ukraine's Emergency Psychologists to Teach Kids Stress Management
Psychologists Engage Children in a Unique Stress-Relief Session
According to ДСНС: Specialists from the Sumy Mobile Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) recently held a session aimed at helping children manage stress and anxiety. The event featured a special participant-a therapy dog named Toto-who actively engaged with the kids throughout the training.
Learning Safe Dog Handling and Building Emotional Resilience
During the session, children were taught essential rules for safely interacting with dogs, a crucial skill for their age group. This initiative not only educated the young participants but also fostered a positive bond with animals, while equipping them with strategies to better cope with emotional strain.
This effort comes at a critical time, as building psychological resilience in children is more important than ever, especially given the stressful circumstances many face. Teaching kids how to safely handle animals also helps instill a sense of responsibility and empathy, key components of healthy social development.
In addition to stress management, children in Sumy are also learning vital safety skills through engaging activities. Recently, they participated in a session focused on mine safety with the rescue dog Toto, which highlights the importance of awareness and preparedness in challenging environments.
