Putin Prepares Historical Materials for Trump: How the Kremlin Manipulates Ukraine's Past

The Kremlin Prepares Pseudo-Historical Maps for Trump
Кремль переписує історію: які нові документи готує російська влада для Трампа щодо України.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin is preparing for a meeting with US President Donald Trump with 'historical materials' in hand. This information was disclosed by the Center for Countering Disinformation, citing intelligence.

One of these materials is geographical maps, which, in Putin's opinion, should prove to Trump that Ukraine is an 'artificial state' formed from territories of other countries. The Kremlin believes this could justify Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and claims on Ukrainian territories.

'Such pseudo-historical speculations are a typical tactic of Russian propaganda, which Putin himself has repeatedly resorted to in public speeches. This approach is unacceptable from the standpoint of international law, which clearly establishes principles of territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and illegality of the use of force or the threat of force,' emphasized the Center.

Unjustified Actions

Most countries in the world once were or are parts of other states, and Russia is no exception. Territories that currently belong to the Russian Federation once belonged to Germany, Sweden, Finland, and other states. However, no historical facts or pseudo-historical theories can justify expansion at the expense of other states or armed aggression, the Center emphasized.

Putin's plans for the meeting with Trump involve preparing 'historical materials,' among which are geographical maps aimed at justifying possible military aggression by Russia against Ukraine. It is noted that no historical arguments can justify armed aggression and violations of international law.
