Putin Inquired About Troop Advances Toward Zaporizhzhia
Vladimir Putin’s Meeting with Service Members
According to Главком: During a Kremlin meeting, Vladimir Putin spoke with military personnel. One soldier declared victory, stating 'Victory will be ours, the enemy will be crushed.' Putin responded, 'No doubt about it.'
Another service member presented a patch from his unit, part of the Dnipro forces, and highlighted the capture of Kamianske and Stepove in the Zaporizhzhia region as a key achievement from the previous year.
Putin then asked the troops about their progress toward Zaporizhzhia. They answered affirmatively: 'Yes, sir.' The Russian leader wished them luck, saying 'Good luck to you.'
Renaming the BMPT Terminator
The meeting also covered plans to rename the BMPT Terminator combat vehicle to Spiridon. This change was announced by the Uralvagonzavod corporation, explaining that Spiridon was the name of Putin’s paternal grandfather, Spiridon Ivanovich Putin, born in 1879. Putin has previously mentioned that his grandfather worked as a cook for Vladimir Lenin.
Footage of this event was released by state-controlled media on June 14, 2026.
This gathering underscores Putin’s efforts to boost military morale and highlight operational successes. Tying the renaming of military hardware to his family history also reflects a broader propaganda strategy to link present actions with the past.
