Deadly Attack on Epicenter Shopping Center in Pryluky

According to Главком: A Russian ballistic missile struck the center of Pryluky, located in the Chernihiv region, on May 19, 2024. The attack, occurring around 10:00 AM, caused significant damage to the Epicenter shopping mall. The explosion resulted in two deaths and at least 17 injuries. Among the wounded are two Epicenter employees, whose conditions are not life-threatening. The blast wave nearly completely destroyed the rear wall of the building. A fire broke out following the strike but was extinguished by the State Emergency Service personnel.

Epicenter's Cumulative Losses

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Epicenter group of companies has suffered immense damage. Seven of its shopping centers have been completely destroyed in the following cities:

• Mariupol
• Chernihiv
• Bucha
• Nikopol
• Kharkiv
• Two in Kherson

The total area of these destroyed facilities exceeds 125,600 square meters. Additionally, two shopping centers-one in Kramatorsk and one in Kharkiv (Oleksiivka district)-have ceased operations due to damage, while another in Melitopol remains under occupation.

Independent experts estimate that Epicenter's total asset losses amount to $1.02 billion USD. Specifically, damages incurred during the full-scale war account for $751.4 million USD, while losses from the 2014 annexation are valued at no less than $267.5 million USD.
