Rocket strike on Kyiv: Lavra, film studio, school
Місцева інфраструктура зазнала серйозних пошкоджень через ракетний удар по столиці України.

Aftermath of the Strike on Kyiv: Damaged Sites and Casualties

According to Главком: On the night of June 15, Russia launched a large-scale combined attack on Kyiv, causing significant damage to several major landmarks. Among the affected locations are the private educational institution Academy-A, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, the Dovzhenko Film Studio, the Mystetskyi Arsenal, and residential buildings in the Pechersk, Obolon, and Solomianskyi districts.

The private school Academy-A, part of the A+ educational holding, was heavily damaged during the assault. Situated on Reheneratorna Street in the Comfort Town residential complex within Kyiv's Dnipro district, this institution serves children aged 1 to 19 through various programs. Ukrainian entrepreneur Oleksandr Sokolovskyi, whose sons were set to attend the school that morning, shared the news of the destruction, stating:

'Beyond the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Dovzhenko Film Studio, and Mystetskyi Arsenal, the occupiers decided to “denazify” the Academy-A gymnasium, where my sons were supposed to go for classes this morning. Only the last week of school remained. A terrifying night-Kyiv, stay strong...' Oleksandr Sokolovskyi

Fires and Destruction at Cultural Sites

A major fire broke out at the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra following the bombardment. The roof of the Dormition Cathedral caught fire, resulting in substantial damage. However, relics and liturgical items were successfully evacuated from the monastery beforehand.

The Dovzhenko Film Studio also sustained harm. Notably, during a previous attack on Kyiv on the night of June 2, the studio suffered severe damage to its buildings and networks, and in July 2025, its production facilities and hotel building were hit as well.

Residential areas in the capital were not spared. Specific impacts include:

  • A five-story apartment building in the Pechersk district was directly struck.
  • In the Obolon district, a residential building suffered structural damage between the third and fourth floors.
  • A nine-story residential building in the Solomianskyi district was also affected.

Overall, the overnight assault caused extensive destruction across the city, disrupting the lives of Kyiv residents and inflicting harm on vital cultural and educational institutions.

This attack underscores the ongoing aggression aimed at Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, particularly educational and cultural sites, which could have severe societal repercussions. It is crucial to note that the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, as a cultural heritage landmark, requires special protection, as its preservation is essential to Ukraine's national identity and history. In this context, the international community's response to these strikes and continued support for Ukraine are increasingly urgent.

The recent missile strike on Kyiv has raised concerns about the ongoing threat to the city's cultural heritage and residential safety.
