Record tourist tax: Ukrainians are traveling more
This year, tourists will have to pay more for the tourist tax. According to the State Tax Service, local budgets received 132 million UAH in tourist tax from January to May 2021, which is 33% more than during the same period last year.
Kiev has become the most popular city among tourists in Ukraine. 33 million UAH in tourist tax has been paid here, which accounts for 25% of the total amount.
Among the leading regions for paying the tourist tax are Lviv (24.7 million UAH), Ivano-Frankivsk (21.2 million UAH), and Zakarpattia (10.5 million UAH).
The State Tax Service emphasized that the amount of tourist tax is set by local councils and can range from 0.5% of the minimum wage for Ukrainians to 5% for foreigners.
In 2021, the payment of tourist tax in Ukraine increased compared to the previous year. Kiev, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zakarpattia were the leaders in the amount of funds paid. The amount of the tax is determined by local councils, taking into account the category of tourists.
