Russia attacked a thermal power plant near Kharkiv: there are casualties and large-scale outages
According to glavcom.ua: Today, December 24, the Russian Federation carried out a series of strikes on thermal power plants in the vicinity of Kharkiv. This caused a significant drop in voltage in the city, affecting heating supply and public transport operations. This was reported by Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov.
As a result, one person has died and there are wounded. At the moment, all relevant services are conducting inspections and assessing the actual extent of the destruction. Where technically possible, the city is switching to 'energy island' mode to mitigate the consequences for the residents of Kharkiv.
Disruption of electric transport operations
Due to damage in the energy system, the movement of electric transport in the areas of Rohatyn, KhTZ, Nova Babaryia, and Kholodna Hora is temporarily complicated. Drivers are already working on restoring normal operational mode. Metro movement has been resumed.
Emergency power outage schedules have also been introduced by 'Kharkivoblenergo'.
Other regions also affected
During the night, the terrorist army of the Russian Federation seized Ukraine's energy infrastructure, leading to new power outages in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions.
Earlier, emergency power outages were reported in several other regions of Ukraine.
As a result of Russia's strikes on thermal power plants near Kharkiv and other regions of Ukraine, the operation of electrical networks and transport has been significantly complicated, leading to casualties and damage. Services continue to work on restoring energy supply and normalizing the situation.
