Fishing from a Boat in Autumn 2025: New Registration Rules and Fines
According to hvylya.net: Ukrainians have been informed whether fishing from a boat is allowed in autumn 2025.
This is reported by 'Khvylia'.
In Ukraine, fishing from a boat is generally allowed; however, there are restrictions that fishermen should keep in mind.
Prohibitions and Restrictions
The main rule concerns the fish spawning period. During this season, there is a general prohibition on catching fish, including fishing from boats. The spawning dates depend on the specific water body and region, so experts recommend checking the current information in the orders of the State Agency of Fisheries. Such documents are typically published a month prior to the restrictions coming into effect.
Additionally, fishing is prohibited in reserve and protected areas. In some water bodies, additional conditions are imposed. For instance, in the Odessa region, motor boats are not allowed closer than 2 km to the shoreline to preserve the coastal ecosystem.
Boat Registration
Starting in 2025, all boats longer than 2.5 meters must be registered. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in a fine of up to 1000 UAH.
Required Documents
When fishing from a boat, fishermen are required to have the following documents:
- boat registration certificate (for vessels over 2.5 m, fine for absence – starting from 500 UAH);
- skipper's certificate (for motor boats with engines over 10 hp, fine – starting from 300 UAH);
- fishing permit in paid or special zones (fine – starting from 340 UAH).
Experts remind: for safety on the water, having life jackets is mandatory.
Fishing in September 2025
Autumn is traditionally considered a favorable time for catching predatory fish, especially pike. To ensure productive fishing, specialists recommend following the fishing calendar, which takes into account not only seasonality but also lunar phases.
The choice of bait also matters. Practice shows that at this time live bait, plant baits, and even ordinary bread work well.
Earlier, Ukrainians were warned about new rules during fishing.
Rules for fishing in Ukraine, including the use of boats, have restrictions that are important to follow. Fishing is prohibited during spawning, as well as in reserves and protected areas. Mandatory registration of boats and possession of the appropriate documents are also important aspects for fishermen. In September 2025, the catching of predatory fish is considered particularly successful, but it is essential to follow the established rules to avoid fines and preserve the ecosystem.
