A Safety Plea from Rimma Zyubina

According to Главком: Ukrainian actress Rimma Zyubina is urging residents across the country to keep a fire extinguisher in every apartment. In a Facebook post, she stressed that this essential safety device is critical not only during wartime but also in peacetime. Fires can break out without warning, she noted, making preparedness a top priority for everyone.

Examples from Abroad

The actress pointed to practices she observed in rented apartments overseas.

“I once saw this in London. Apartments for rent come with barely any furniture-just a kitchen-but they always include a fire extinguisher!”

Zyubina also recalled her experience in Portugal, where illuminated signs in her rental clearly marked the locations of first-aid kits and fire extinguishers at night.

Zyubina made a direct appeal to Ukrainians:

“Every apartment needs a fire extinguisher, from Kherson to Uzhhorod! I’m not joking. You keep one in your car, right?”

She also suggested that instead of giving each other useless trinkets, people should gift fire extinguishers. “It feels strange to write ‘Take care of yourself’ right now, but do take responsibility for your safety where you can-go buy a fire extinguisher,” she added.

Separately, Zyubina criticized the pricing policies of taxi services in Kyiv, noting that fares spike sharply during air raid alerts and just before curfew. These issues have sparked frustration among residents of the capital who face such difficulties regularly.

Zyubina’s call for home safety could mark a meaningful step in raising fire prevention awareness among Ukrainians. Having an extinguisher in every household may help avert serious consequences in the event of a blaze. At the same time, the outcry over taxi pricing during emergencies highlights broader social challenges citizens face amid war and crisis conditions.
