Highest youth unemployment growth in Poland in 22 years

According to glavcom.ua: Poland has seen the fastest increase in youth unemployment among European Union countries. The unemployment rate among young people up to 25 years old has increased by 30%, reaching the highest level in the last 22 years. If this trend continues, it could lead to a new wave of economic emigration. This is reported by pulshr.pl.

Although Poland has been marked by one of the lowest unemployment rates in the EU, the significant growth among youth poses a serious challenge for the government. The last such data was recorded over 20 years ago. In the first quarter of 2003, youth unemployment in Poland reached a record 46.5%.

Monika Banyiś-Bator, an expert in the employment service, emphasizes: 'Young people are ambitious individuals who want to grow. According to our surveys, 83% of young people express a desire to acquire new skills and experience. However, during times of economic instability, their optimism is tempered by real fears concerning career growth and competition in the labor market.'

Experts warn that if opportunities for career growth among youth are not created and support for job search is not provided, a new wave of emigration abroad may occur. For example, in Italy, where youth unemployment is the highest in the EU (21.6%), the annual increase is only 1%. Meanwhile, other EU countries are observing improvements in youth employment.

The rise in youth unemployment in Poland to the highest level in the last 22 years poses a serious threat to young people in the country and may lead to a new wave of emigration. This indicates the government's need to create mechanisms to support career growth and job searching among youth to avoid further economic instability.
