Russia attacks key bridge for fuel: what the destruction of the crossing in Mayaky threatens
Attacks on the bridge in Mayaky and their consequences
According to ХВИЛЯ: Russia is carrying out attacks on the bridge in Mayaky, which is an important route for fuel supply to Ukraine. If the bridge is destroyed, logistics will be critically disrupted. In particular, 60% of imported fuel to Ukraine comes through this bridge. One bridge in this direction has already been destroyed earlier, increasing the risks for fuel infrastructure.
Experts predict that the fuel market will be in turmoil for about a week in case of the destruction of the bridge in Mayaky. The shortage of fuel truck drivers is also a pressing issue that complicates the situation. Dmytro Leushkin, an industry expert, noted that:
'The closure of the import route through Izmail will lead to a price increase based on western benchmarks of at least 2 hryvnias.'

This will also create a shortage of fuel trucks and lead to phased shutdowns of gas stations, starting from the eastern and southern regions.
The need for urgent measures
Leushkin also emphasized that in the context of the high season, the fuel crisis could escalate even further. He urged to raise the reservation level for drivers with ADR certificates and international drivers to at least 75% in order to reduce potential negative consequences from attacks on infrastructure.
The situation with the bridge in Mayaky is critically important for the Ukrainian economy, as uninterrupted fuel supply is necessary for the operation of transport and other industries. Given that Ukraine is already facing difficulties with fuel supply, further attacks could lead to significant socio-economic consequences, including price increases and fuel shortages. The growing risks to fuel infrastructure underscore the need for urgent measures to ensure stability in this critically important area.
