DTEK Energy Facility in Odesa Hit in Latest Russian Strike, Marking 11th Major Assault Since October

Russian attack on DTEK energy facility in Odessa
В Одесі знову пошкоджено енергетичну інфраструктуру внаслідок чергової атаки, що стала вже одинадцятою за рахунком з початку жовтня.

Targeting Energy Infrastructure

According to Главком: On February 13, Russian forces struck an energy facility belonging to the DTEK company in the Odesa region. This marks the eleventh large-scale attack on the company's thermal power plants since October 2025. A morning assault by Russian attack drones also damaged energy infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region. This follows a massive overnight missile barrage on February 12, which caused the most significant damage to energy facilities in Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. These systematic strikes are part of a broader Russian campaign to degrade Ukraine's power grid, a tactic seen since the early days of the full-scale invasion.

Impact on the Energy System

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK's thermal power plants have been targeted by the enemy over 220 times. In response to these events, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal has instructed the State Energy Supervision Authority to conduct inspections.

DTEK's press service stated: 'We will do everything possible to eliminate the consequences of the attack as quickly as possible. The primary task is to restore power to critical infrastructure facilities.'

These attacks on energy facilities demonstrate the constant pressure on Ukraine's energy infrastructure amid the war, which seeks to destroy or undermine its operation. Given the numerous incidents, such actions can lead to significant power supply disruptions and affect the livelihoods of the population. The resilience of Ukraine's energy sector is being tested by these repeated, targeted assaults.

The government and energy companies continue to take measures to ensure the stability of the energy system, but the situation remains complex and requires constant attention and support.
