According to Главком: On January 18, Russian occupation forces launched an attack against Ukraine's energy infrastructure, striking a facility in the Koriukivka district of the Chernihiv region. This assault left a portion of the local population without electricity, marking another episode in a prolonged campaign targeting the country's critical power grid. This latest incident follows a recent tragedy in Chernihiv on December 25, where a drone struck an apartment building, killing one person. Among the ten injured in that attack were three children. An 80-year-old woman lost her life, two apartments were completely destroyed, and windows were damaged in other apartments and neighboring buildings.

Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the regional state administration, confirmed that tens of thousands of subscribers were left without power due to the shelling. He noted the severe human cost, stating,

"Unfortunately, an 80-year-old woman died"

"Windows have been covered with OSB boards, and water, electricity, and gas supplies have been partially restored"
