Ukraine Targeted in March 24 Strikes

According to Главком: On March 24, Russian forces launched attacks against multiple Ukrainian cities, including Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Vinnytsia, and Ternopil. The assault on Ivano-Frankivsk, carried out with Iranian-made 'Shahed' kamikaze drones, resulted in two fatalities and four injuries, one of whom was a six-year-old child. These strikes are part of a wider pattern of attacks on civilian areas far from the front lines.

Extent of the Damage

The attack damaged the buildings of the city and regional maternity hospitals, along with approximately ten residential buildings. All relevant emergency services are on-site to assess the destruction and provide aid to the victims.

Ruslan Martsinkiv, Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk: 'Unfortunately, windows were damaged, including at the maternity hospital and surrounding buildings. Everyone in the perinatal center was in shelters. They all remained alive and unharmed. We will, of course, compensate people for their losses.'

In addition to Ivano-Frankivsk, the Russian Federation carried out a combined assault on critical infrastructure targets in other cities during the night of March 24, employing both drones and missiles.

Svitlana Onyshchuk, Head of the Regional Administration: 'The buildings of the city and regional maternity hospitals have been damaged, as well as about 10 residential buildings. All relevant services are working on-site. I urge residents of the region not to ignore air raid sirens-remain in shelters or safe places until the all-clear is given.'

This incident underscores the persistent threat Russian forces pose to Ukrainian cities and civilian populations. The use of kamikaze drones highlights an escalation in tactics and the ongoing danger to critical civilian infrastructure. Authorities continue to urge caution and adherence to safety protocols, as similar attacks are likely to occur in the future.

The ongoing conflict has seen a troubling pattern of drone strikes targeting civilian areas in Ukraine. A recent incident in another city, where a drone attack damaged an apartment block and injured civilians, underscores the escalating threat to urban centers across the country. Such attacks not only cause immediate harm but also instill fear among the population, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced safety measures.
