Kyiv Attack: Consequences and Situation Assessment

According to Главком: In the early hours of February 12, Russian forces launched a combined assault on Kyiv, firing ballistic missiles and deploying attack drones. The attack resulted in injuries to two civilians, a man and a woman, who sustained wounds of varying severity. Residential buildings and vehicles were damaged, including the facade of a multi-story apartment block in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district.

Debris from the downed drones caused damage not only to homes but also to a number of cars. A recovered drone jet engine confirms the use of modern technology in this strike. Beyond Darnytskyi, the districts affected by falling debris included:

  • Holosiivskyi
  • Desnianskyi
  • Dniprovskyi

In Holosiivskyi and Desnianskyi districts, non-residential structures were hit, while in Dniprovskyi district, debris landed near a residential building. Preliminary reports indicate a direct hit on a private house in Darnytskyi district, further highlighting the threat to civilian structures during such attacks. The situation remains tense as local authorities continue to assess the full impact.

Conflict Escalation and Threat to Civilians

This incident marks another escalation in the conflict and a worsening of the security situation in Ukraine, particularly in the capital. The use of ballistic missiles alongside drones signifies a shift in military tactics, posing a severe and direct threat to civilian populations and critical infrastructure. These attacks are part of a sustained Russian campaign targeting Ukrainian cities far from the front lines.

Local authorities and emergency services are working to clear the damage and ensure resident safety amid the ongoing threat of further strikes.
