Russian Strikes on Sumy Region Leave Dead and Wounded After Drone and Bomb Attacks
Ukrainian Regions, Including Sumy, Hit by Overnight Assaults
According to Главком: In the early hours of April 4, Russian military forces launched attacks on Ukraine's Sumy region and other areas, resulting in destruction, fires, injuries, and fatalities. In the city of Sumy, a drone struck a multi-story residential building in the Zarichnyi district, igniting a fire on the upper floors. A second impact was recorded in the courtyard of the same district. At least three people were injured in Sumy, and emergency services are currently evacuating residents from the damaged buildings. These attacks are part of a sustained pattern of strikes on Ukrainian border regions.
Further Incidents and Official Response
In a separate incident around 09:05 on April 3, a Molniya-type drone hit a shopping center in central Sumy, wounding two people with debris from the blast. Russian forces also targeted the Shostka community in Sumy Oblast with guided aerial bombs, killing one person. Additionally, four strikes were recorded in Sumy's Kyivskyi district, which also resulted in casualties.
Explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia almost simultaneously with an attack on Kharkiv. The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, confirmed a missile strike on the city. Ukraine's Air Force had earlier warned of the threat of ballistic missiles being used against Zaporizhzhia. Furthermore, the city of Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast came under hostile fire, where explosions were also registered.
"All necessary assistance is being provided to the victims. The relevant services are engaged in dealing with the consequences," stated Oleg Grygorov.
The situation remains tense, with emergency services continuing their work at the sites of the attacks.
These assaults underscore the ongoing volatility in the region and the severe humanitarian challenges faced by civilians caught in the conflict. The response from local authorities and emergency teams highlights the critical need for rapid aid and coordinated action to mitigate the impact of such incidents.
The recent assaults on the Sumy region are part of a broader strategy by Russian forces, which have increasingly targeted critical infrastructure across various Ukrainian territories.
