Drone Assault on Ukraine During the Night of October 31
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: In the early hours of October 31, Russian forces unleashed an attack on Ukraine using 134 strike drones, including Shahed models and decoy UAVs. Ukraine’s Air Defense Forces successfully neutralized or suppressed 105 of these hostile drones, with 49 identified as missile-capable. The assault originated from multiple directions, including the Russian cities of Orel, Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and areas temporarily occupied in Donetsk and Crimea.
The offensive caused damage across 20 different locations, with debris falling in 10 separate areas. In Kharkiv’s Osnovyansky district, a Shahed missile drone struck a private residence, injuring five people. The resulting fire engulfed approximately 300 square meters, damaging outbuildings and a vehicle.
Fires and Damage from the Attacks
Industrial facilities in the Poltava region suffered fires due to the Russian strikes. Additionally, energy infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk was targeted overnight, severely damaging equipment at two DTEK Dnipro Electric Networks sites. Restoration efforts have been ongoing at one location for nearly two days.
On the evening of October 30, Kyiv also experienced attacks on energy facilities, leaving parts of the Obolon, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, and Podilskyi districts without power and water. While water supply has been restored in Obolon, Svatoshynskyi, Podilskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts continue to face reduced water pressure.
According to the Ukrainian Air Forces, 'enemy airborne attack assets struck 20 locations, with debris from downed drones falling in 10 areas.'
Ukraine’s response involved aviation units, anti-air missile troops, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire units to counter the assault.
This strike highlights the ongoing threat posed by Russian military forces amid the protracted conflict. Repairing critical energy infrastructure and safeguarding civilians remain top priorities for Ukraine’s defense. The situation on the ground remains tense, underscoring the necessity for heightened vigilance from Ukrainian forces and continued international support.
As the situation escalates, it's important to note that just days before this latest assault, Russia launched a series of drone and missile strikes that resulted in significant casualties and damage across Ukraine. This pattern of attacks highlights the ongoing intensity of the conflict and the urgent need for robust defense measures.
