Large-Scale Drone Offensive Targets Ukraine

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: In the early hours of November 4, Russian forces launched a massive drone strike against Ukraine, deploying a total of 310 attack drones of various models, including 81 jet-powered units. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted and neutralized 272 of these drones, with confirmed impacts recorded across 19 separate locations. The aerial assault began at 6 p.m. on November 3 and continued into the following morning.

Types and Launch Points of Drones

The Russian military utilized a range of strike drones such as Shahed, Gerbera, and decoy drones known as Parodiya. Launch sites were spread across multiple regions, including:

  • Oryol
  • Kursk
  • Shatalovo
  • Millerovo
  • Primorsko-Akhtarsk
  • Temporarily occupied areas in Donetsk Oblast
  • Crimean Peninsula (near Hvardiiske)

Ukraine's response involved coordinated efforts from its air forces, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare teams, drone defense systems, and mobile strike groups of the Defense Forces.

By 8 a.m., Ukrainian air defense had either destroyed or suppressed 272 hostile drones, including 64 jet-powered ones. However, over 20 attack drones reportedly remained airborne at the time of the report. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian strikes hit 19 key sites, while debris from downed drones was observed at 15 additional locations.

The drone attacks caused damage in several cities. In Poltava, a drone struck a private enterprise. After 2 a.m., another drone crashed onto a private property in the Kamianopotokivska community of the Kremenchuk district. In Dnipro, two men, aged 38 and 57, sustained moderate shrapnel wounds following a strike on an industrial facility, which also caught fire. A drone hit an energy infrastructure site in the Ternopil district, and a blaze broke out at a shopping center in Odesa after the attack.

This wave of attacks highlights Russia’s ongoing military aggression and underscores Ukraine’s determined air defense capabilities. The extensive use of drones marks a strategic shift in warfare tactics towards unmanned technologies. At the same time, the damage inflicted on civilian infrastructure reveals the serious challenges Ukraine faces in protecting its population and critical facilities.

In light of the recent large-scale drone offensive, it's important to consider how Ukraine has been managing similar threats. Just weeks prior, Ukrainian air defenses successfully countered an intense assault involving 157 Russian attack drones and missiles, neutralizing 161 targets. This ongoing pattern of aggression highlights the resilience of Ukraine's defense capabilities.
