Russia Unleashes Large-Scale Assault on Ukraine

According to Главком: In the early hours of February 3rd, Russia launched a massive assault against Ukraine, deploying hundreds of drones and missiles. This relentless bombardment targeted civilian areas and critical infrastructure. In the city of Sumy, residential buildings in the Zarichnyi district sustained significant damage. During the attack, five-year-old twins were at home with their parents in one apartment; fortunately, they emerged unharmed.

Preliminary reports indicate the attack involved an estimated 350 to 500 unmanned aerial vehicles and up to 65 missiles of various types. In the Vinnytsia region, strikes on critical infrastructure left 50 settlements without electricity. In Kyiv, three people were wounded, while four injuries were reported in the Sumy region.

Aftermath of the Attack

The assault also caused substantial damage to equipment at DTEK thermal power plants. In the Odesa region, strikes targeted energy and civilian infrastructure, temporarily cutting off power to over 50,000 residents. This overnight attack has had severe consequences for Ukrainian cities, leaving many without shelter and essential utilities. These strikes are part of a broader Russian campaign to cripple Ukraine's energy grid, especially during the winter months.

'My child and I were sleeping on the sofa here. The child was against the wall, and a drone exploded about a meter away. Thank God he remained unharmed and everything was okay. The wall saved my child,' recounted the father of a boy who found himself at the epicenter of the attack.

This large-scale assault is a continuation of Russia's aggressive actions against Ukraine, which began in 2022. It underscores not only the ongoing military threat but also the severe humanitarian consequences faced by the civilian population. Ukrainian authorities continue to work on restoring infrastructure and ensuring citizen safety, yet the situation remains tense, demanding sustained attention from the international community regarding the conflict.
