According to Главком: Russian forces launched a drone attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia in the early hours of January 22. The strike resulted in casualties and significant destruction, hitting a parking lot near a shopping center and a residential area, with severe consequences for local residents. The city of Zaporizhzhia, a frequent target, is a major Ukrainian population center in the southeast.

One person was wounded in the attack. Tragically, three people were killed: a 48-year-old man, a 43-year-old woman, and a 57-year-old neighbor. At least six private homes were damaged. The bombardment also ignited a fire that destroyed three cars. This information was confirmed by Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Regional Context of Attacks

This is not the first attack on Zaporizhzhia in recent days. On the night of January 18, a fire broke out in the Zaporizhzhia district following another hostile strike. The nearby town of Vilniansk has been completely cut off from electricity, leaving over 15,000 subscribers without power, and critical infrastructure in the region is now operating on backup generators. This follows another assault by attack drones on the city on January 17, highlighting the persistent threats facing local communities.

The situation in Zaporizhzhia remains tense due to regular attacks by Russian troops, which are causing harm not only to infrastructure but also to civilian lives. After several strikes in a short period, the region urgently requires aid for recovery and to ensure population safety. Given the continuation of hostilities, it is critical for local authorities and emergency services to be prepared to respond to new challenges and protect citizens.
