Zaporizhzhia Region Targeted in Overnight Assault

According to Главком: Russian forces launched a combined attack using drones and guided aerial bombs against the city of Zaporizhzhia and its surrounding region overnight on January 26. The assault resulted in extensive damage to buildings, fires, and civilian casualties. The Zaporizhzhia region has been a frequent target since the start of the full-scale invasion, given its strategic location and energy infrastructure.

The strikes hit multiple locations, including the city of Zaporizhzhia, Zaporizhzhia district, Vilniansk, and Komyshuvakha. In Vilniansk, the attack sparked a fire and damaged apartment blocks, shattering windows and scarring building facades. Preliminary reports indicated no casualties there. A fire was also reported in Zaporizhzhia city, though information on injuries remains unconfirmed.

Casualties and Rescue Efforts

The town of Komyshuvakha suffered the most severe consequences, where emergency operations have now concluded. The shelling there killed an 85-year-old man and injured ten other people. The injured include:

All of the wounded have been hospitalized. Rescue workers freed one person from under the rubble after the settlement was hit four times with guided aerial bombs.
