New Attack Threat Looms

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Russian forces could be gearing up for a large-scale assault on Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv, employing a range of weaponry that features the intermediate-range ballistic missile known as the 'Oreshnik.' According to Zelenskyy, military intelligence has detected indicators of preparations for such an attack, relying on data shared by American and European allies. These findings are currently undergoing thorough verification.

In the early hours of January 9, Russian troops struck the Lviv region with an Oreshnik missile. The attack was reportedly triggered by a fabricated claim about an assault on the residence of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Ukraine's Security Service has released images of the Oreshnik missile debris recovered from the strike site, including a guidance unit, engine components, and orientation mechanisms.

Call for Vigilance

President Zelenskyy has stressed the critical need for the public to respond responsibly to air raid warnings, urging citizens to stay cautious and seek shelter.

“I thank everyone who helps protect lives! Once again: please take care of yourselves and use shelters today,” the president stated.

He also drew the attention of partners in the United States and Europe to the fact that the deployment of such weaponry and the prolongation of the war set a dangerous global precedent for other would-be aggressors.

Zelenskyy emphasized that if Russia is permitted to destroy lives on such a scale, no agreement will deter other similarly hate-driven regimes from aggression.

“This war must be ended-peace is needed, not some missiles to satisfy the sick ambitions of one individual,” he underscored.

The president also expressed hope for a preventive response from the international community to prevent the conflict from widening: “We count on the world’s reaction, and we hope it will be not after the fact but preemptive-pressure must be put on Moscow so they do not expand the war.”

The situation on the front lines remains tense, and the threat of further Russian attacks highlights the need for constant readiness by Ukraine and its allies. President Zelenskyy’s statements reflect not only domestic challenges but also the importance of international support in countering aggression. The situation demands a swift response from Western coalition nations to prevent escalation and preserve regional peace.

The situation remains tense as President Zelenskyy highlights the escalating threats from Russia, with recent reports indicating that a significant number of Russian drones were launched in a single day. This increase in aerial assaults coincides with heightened military activity, underscoring the urgency of vigilance among the Ukrainian populace and international allies.
