Russia Prepares for War with NATO: Europe Unprepared for Conflict
Security Situation in Europe
According to Главком: The Russian Federation is showing signs of preparing for a possible military conflict with NATO, while European countries exhibit insufficient readiness for such a development. This situation was discussed by participants at a conference held in London, organized by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized that Russia may be ready to use military force against the Alliance within the next five years. In turn, the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Johann Wadephul, noted that German intelligence considers a war with NATO possible no later than 2029, while in the Baltic countries, the risk of an attack is estimated within three years.
Defense Spending and Preparedness for Conflict
NATO, according to Rutte, has plans that so far remain mostly formal. In the United Kingdom, a strategic defense review revealed the urgent need to strengthen armed forces. However, at the current pace of preparation, it may take the country up to ten years to be ready for war. This situation is causing concern in society: 78% of Europeans expressed worries about security issues.
At the same time, in countries bordering Russia, the level of preparedness is higher. There, instructions for the population are being updated, and military conscription is being restored, indicating the seriousness of the threats. NATO countries must urgently increase their defense spending and production to ensure effective deterrence of potential aggressive actions from Russia.
“Preparing for a possible conflict with Russia is becoming a priority for many European states, especially those bordering the Russian border.”
Given the current situation, NATO countries are facing serious challenges in the security sphere. The need for urgent military buildup and increased defense spending indicates a growing level of tension in the region.
