Russian Military Deploys 'Spirit-030' Terminals to Replace Starlink, First Unit Destroyed
New 'Spirit-030' Terminals for Russian Forces
According to ХВИЛЯ: Russian occupying forces have begun receiving new 'Spirit-030' satellite terminals in large numbers to replace their lost access to Starlink systems. This information was provided by Serhiy Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukraine's Minister of Defense, who noted that after being cut off from Starlink, satellite internet has become a critical issue for Russian military operations. The loss of Starlink access has forced Russia to seek alternative, domestically produced systems for battlefield communications.
Older Russian terminals, with their large antennas, became easy targets for Ukrainian drones, making them difficult to use in combat. Consequently, the new 'Spirit-030' terminals are portable, making them more practical for frontline use. The new terminal's antenna has a diameter of 30 centimeters, which is significantly smaller than the older models, whose antennas could reach up to 90 centimeters.
Detection and Destruction of the Terminals
The first 'Spirit-030' terminal has already been detected and destroyed by pilots of the 414th 'Birds of Magyar' Unmanned Systems Brigade.
"This is why 'Spirit-030' satellite terminals have started to be supplied to the front. Essentially, it's the same satellite internet terminal, but it's made portable," stated Serhiy Beskrestnov.
The introduction of the new 'Spirit-030' terminals indicates the adaptation of Russian forces to the conditions of modern warfare, where technology plays a key role. It also underscores the necessity for constant updates to tactics and technical equipment to maintain battlefield communications, especially under threat from Ukrainian forces, which actively use drones to detect and destroy enemy hardware. This technological cat-and-mouse game is a defining feature of the ongoing conflict.
As the Russian military adapts to the challenges posed by Ukrainian forces, innovative strategies are emerging on the battlefield. One such tactic involves the use of decoy missiles mounted on kamikaze drones, aimed at misleading enemy defenses and enhancing operational effectiveness. This development highlights the ongoing evolution of military technology and tactics in the current conflict. For more insights into these deceptive methods, read about Russia's new strategy here.
