Russia Boosts Ballistic Missile Production as Attack Volumes Climb

According to 5 канал: The figures lay bare the scale of the air assault Ukraine is confronting. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Moscow is accelerating ballistic missile output. Over the past week, according to him, Russian forces targeted 16 regions of Ukraine using about 1,900 drones, nearly 1,600 guided bombs, and 144 missiles of various types. In the latest wave, which came overnight into June 1, Russian troops struck Ukraine with drones and both air- and ground-launched missiles.

Overnight Barrage: Missile Types and Drone Formations

Ukraine's Air Force reported 220 incoming aerial threats in total: 35 missiles and 185 drones. The missile barrage included four anti-ship Zircon or Oniks missiles, 27 Iskander-M or S-400 ballistic missiles, two Kh-31 anti-radiation missiles, and two Kh-59/Kh-69 air-launched guided missiles. Launch areas included Russia's Kursk, Rostov, and Bryansk regions, as well as the Black Sea.

The drone wave included 185 attack UAVs, among them Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types, along with Banderol loitering munitions and Parody decoy drones. Reported drone vectors included Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, and Hvardiiske in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

'A considerable share of Russian enterprises that support these strikes and make parts for drones, missiles, and guided bombs is still not under sanctions.' Volodymyr Zelensky

Zelensky pushed for broader sanctions on Russia's defense industry, saying pressure must be applied to every link of the military-industrial complex to reduce the number of attacks against Ukraine's people. 'Sanctions must expand and must work,' he stressed.

The build-up of Russian attack capabilities, particularly in ballistic missiles and drones, underscores the conflict's continued escalation. Zelensky's sanctions push highlights the importance of international support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, while persistent strikes against civilian infrastructure keep security and civilian protection at the center of attention.

The recent escalation in Russian missile strikes has had devastating consequences, with reports confirming eight fatalities during a massive overnight attack. This highlights the urgent need for enhanced international measures against Russia's military capabilities, as President Zelensky emphasizes the importance of comprehensive sanctions to mitigate further assaults on Ukraine's territories.
