Russia Launches 20th Attack This Year on Ukraine's Naftogaz Energy Facilities

According to Главком: For the 20th time this year, Russian forces have attacked facilities belonging to Ukraine's state energy company, Naftogaz. The latest strikes on February 9th targeted sites in the Poltava and Sumy regions, causing damage to equipment but resulting in no casualties. These systematic attacks are part of a broader campaign against Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure, which has been a frequent target since the full-scale invasion began.

This follows similar attacks on February 7th and 8th. On the night of February 8th, Naftogaz facilities in the Poltava region were hit, and on the night of February 9th, an energy facility near the Novovolynska community in the Volyn region was struck. The most critical situations are currently reported in Kyiv and six settlements in the Kherson region.

Company Spokesperson's Statement

Company representative Serhiy Koretskyi noted: 'Throughout the day, the enemy again shelled our production assets in the Poltava region and carried out new mass attacks in the Sumy region, which are ongoing even now. Emergency services and all relevant units are on site.'

He confirmed equipment damage from the strikes but emphasized that there were no injuries.

These assaults on energy targets underscore the persistent threat to Ukraine's critical infrastructure amid the ongoing conflict. The situation remains tense, particularly in regions already affected by previous attacks. It is crucial for emergency services to continue working to restore damaged facilities and ensure the country's energy stability, a key factor for both civilian resilience and military defense.
