Tragedy Unfolds in Ukraine

According to Главком: On June 23, 2024, Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on the city of Kryvyi Rih, killing three people and injuring 25 others. The victims include two men aged 25 and 34, as well as a 54-year-old woman. Twenty of the wounded are currently receiving treatment in local hospitals. In response to the tragedy, June 24 has been declared a day of mourning in the city.

That same day, Russian forces targeted the Odesa region using attack drones. A 26-year-old woman lost her life in the strike, while a 39-year-old man sustained injuries and is now receiving outpatient care. Notably, the beach where the woman was killed had not been officially opened for the season.

International Response and Official Statements

On the global stage, the World Bank’s Board of Directors has approved a $3.39 billion financing package for Ukraine. This includes a $1.04 billion loan backed by Japan and the United Kingdom, as well as a $2.35 billion grant from the F.O.R.T.I.S. fund.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the situation, stating Russia’s readiness to engage in dialogue with Ukraine based on the Istanbul agreements. He also instructed the Russian government to minimize the impact of Ukrainian military strikes on Russian infrastructure. Speaking for the first time about Ukrainian drone attacks during a meeting with military academy graduates at the Kremlin, Putin remarked:

“Every such day and every Russian strike proves that the pressure on the aggressor in this war is insufficient.”

In other developments, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces released footage showing the destruction of a bridge over the North Crimean Canal. Additionally, the National Bank of Ukraine fined Ukrposhta over 2.5 million hryvnias, and Russian occupation authorities in Crimea have banned all sports competitions.
