Russia Launches Mass Drone Assault, Rejecting Easter Ceasefire with Over 700 Strikes
Російська агресія продовжує загрожувати мирному населенню, безжально застосовуючи дрони для атак по різним регіонам.

Drone Assault Targets Ukraine

According to Главком: Russia has launched a massive drone attack against Ukraine, targeting its energy infrastructure and civilian sites. This aggressive move is seen as a direct response to Russia's rejection of an Easter ceasefire, a proposal which had been put forward by Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that

"This is essentially the Russian response to our proposal for a truce over the Easter holidays. Ukraine openly made this proposal to Russia. Russia is responding with Shahed drones and continuing its terrorist operations against our energy sector, against our infrastructure."

This escalation comes as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty against the ongoing invasion.

Damage and Consequences of the Attacks

Over the course of a day, Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down a significant number of the attacking drones. Despite this, Russia launched more than 700 drones against Ukraine. The strikes caused damage to energy facilities, with impacts recorded in the following regions:

  • Volyn
  • Zakarpattia
  • Ternopil
  • Chernivtsi
  • Cherkasy
  • Ivano-Frankivsk

Particularly severe consequences were reported in Lutsk, where food warehouses and a Nova Poshta terminal were damaged. There are also reports of residential buildings being hit in the Poltava region and other areas.

In the night leading into April 1st, 339 Russian drones attacked Ukraine, striking:

  • Lutsk
  • Dnipropetrovsk region
  • Zhytomyr region
  • Poltava region
  • Kharkiv region
  • Odesa region
  • Khmelnytskyi region

In the Zolotonosha district of the Cherkasy region, four civilians were killed by a drone strike. Furthermore, Russian drones attacked the Zakarpattia region, damaging energy infrastructure. In Lutsk on the morning of April 1st, a fragment from a Shahed drone damaged an apartment building, with additional strikes hitting a Nova Poshta warehouse and a grocery warehouse for a retail chain.

Amid Russia's continuing aggression, Ukrainian forces persist in countering the attacks. However, the situation remains tense, and strikes on civilian targets continue to inflict significant harm. These systematic attacks on civilian infrastructure are a hallmark of Russia's campaign, aiming to cripple Ukraine's economy and morale.

This development underscores the intensification of the conflict, where assaults on civilian and energy targets form a core part of the aggressor's strategy. Russia's dismissal of peace proposals signals a continuation of military actions that severely impact security and stability in Ukraine. The response of Ukrainian forces also demonstrates resilience and a readiness to confront the aggression, though the toll on the civilian population remains devastating.

The recent escalation in drone attacks by Russia has drawn significant attention, particularly following reports of Ukraine successfully intercepting a large number of these drones. This development sheds light on the ongoing conflict and the humanitarian impact it has on civilians.
