Russia's Use of Miniature Relay Stations and Advanced Drones

According to 5 канал: Russia has deployed compact relay devices to direct Shahed drones toward strategic targets in Ukraine, including the Security Service headquarters and key bridges in Kyiv. According to Sergey Beskrestnov, an advisor to the Ukrainian president, these devices are roughly the size of a power bank or radio receiver and can be discreetly installed virtually anywhere-from private residences to vehicles. All they require to operate are internet connectivity and power supply. Their flexibility allows placement at various elevations, even within rented apartments. Alexander Morus highlighted the risk of separatists exploiting these technologies, aided by covert operatives embedded within Ukraine.

In autumn 2023, Russia began deploying upgraded Geran-4 jet drones featuring enhanced autonomous navigation and new warheads designed to strike bridges and power lines. The original Chinese engines have been replaced with Russian-made ones produced in Alabuga. To counter these threats, Ukrainian forces have installed twelve AI-driven automated turrets equipped with machine guns throughout Kyiv. These systems have already proven effective by successfully shooting down attacking drones.

Military spokesperson Yuriy Ignat confirmed, "Several jet drones have already been shot down by the turrets, including the latest units."

Ukrainian intelligence reports that over 51% of Russia's oil refining capacity has been taken offline. Anti-drone defenses are currently being installed at the Ilsky oil refinery, underscoring the severity of the situation. Morus noted that the volume of petroleum products entering the Russian market is now significantly below what is needed for normal functioning, though the crisis has yet to become critical.

Humanitarian Efforts and International Support

During the "Tigers" operation, Ukrainian defenders successfully evacuated six cats from occupied Olenivka using drones launched from a heavy bomber, highlighting the humanitarian dimension of their mission. Additionally, Belgium is poised to supply Ukraine with three F-16 fighter jets equipped with upgraded electronic warfare systems, pending approval from France.

These developments illustrate the ongoing intensity of combat operations and the sustained international backing Ukraine receives. The integration of cutting-edge technologies like relay devices and automated turrets demonstrates Ukraine’s adaptability to evolving battlefield challenges. Meanwhile, the significant reduction in Russia’s oil refining output suggests mounting economic pressures that could hamper its military capabilities. Simultaneously, Ukraine's combined military and humanitarian initiatives, supported by global partners, reflect a comprehensive strategy to resist aggression on multiple fronts.

As the conflict escalates, Ukraine is intensifying its response to Russian aggression, particularly targeting oil infrastructure. This strategic shift comes in light of recent developments, including the deployment of advanced drone technology by Russia.
