Russia demands explanations from the USA and Turkey regarding plans for large-scale arms supplies to Ukraine

Moscow considers the circumstances and conditions of a possible transfer of a significant quantity of American arms to Ukraine to be controversial. Zakharova stated that new arms supplies to Ukraine could negatively affect the relationship between Russia and the USA and Turkey.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the use of peacekeeping rhetoric by the USA and Turkey, alongside parallel supplies of arms to Ukraine, allegedly undermines mutual trust. Zakharova also noted that new supplies of weapons allegedly would not be able to affect the course of the war under the terms that Moscow wishes and urged the USA and Turkey to reconsider their plans. The Russian agency did not specify what exact arms supplies through Turkey are meant or when they might occur.

It was previously reported that Ankara is preparing to deliver dozens of ATACMS missiles, multiple launch rocket systems, and thousands of cluster munitions to Ukraine. Manufacturers are required to present relevant plans within 21 days.

Zakharova stated: 'New arms supplies to Ukraine will cause serious damage to the relations between Russia, the USA, and Turkey.'

She emphasized that attempts by the USA and Turkey to use peacekeeping rhetoric while simultaneously supplying arms to Ukraine inevitably undermine mutual trust.
