Russians are massively saving on food due to loans: consumption market is rapidly declining
According to glavcom.ua: Ekaterina Lobačeva, president of the X5 group, stated that in Russia there is a decrease in food consumption due to the limited financial capabilities of citizens. The population is forced to cut expenses on food in favor of loan repayments, and this has already begun to be felt by enterprises that produce food products.
According to information, by 2025 the increase in consumption has dropped to about 2%, compared to stable 6-8% in previous years. This situation is related to various factors, including population decline, consumers' 'saving' behavior, and high interest rates from the Central Bank.
Thus, the forced loan repayments by Russian citizens have led to a decrease in consumer activity, which already has a negative impact on food producers and has led to a restriction of their activities. This trend can have serious consequences for the economy of the country as a whole.
