Civilian Couple Killed by Drone Strike in Sumy Border Region

According to Главком: On January 27, Russian military forces killed two civilians using an FPV drone as they attempted to evacuate from a border area in the Sumy region. The victims were a married couple; the woman was 52 years old. The attack occurred in the Krasnopillia community, where the security situation has deteriorated due to increased enemy activity. The Sumy region, which borders Russia, has faced persistent shelling and incursions since the full-scale invasion began in 2022.

Regional Governor Issues Urgent Evacuation Warning

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, has implored residents not to delay evacuation from high-risk areas. He emphasized that remaining in border zones is now lethally dangerous due to the widespread use of FPV drones by Russian forces. Hryhorov also warned that the enemy continues to employ tactics of remote mining, using drones to drop explosive devices in small, light-colored bags that can detonate from pressure or proximity. This tragic incident underscores the severe and evolving threats civilians face in conflict zones where advanced drone technology is intensifying the dangers of modern warfare.
